“AND TAKE…
        THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT,
WHICH IS THE WORD OF GOD…”

                    Ephesians 6:17

I find it quite stunning that the English word “Sword” contains the
the word, “Word.” The Word is a sword – the Sword (Word) of the
Spirit. We are all quite aware who authored the Word of God:

“KNOWING THIS FIRST, THAT NO PROPHECY OF SCRIPTURE IS OF ANY PRIVATE
INTERPRETATION, FOR PROPHECY NEVER CAME BY THE WILL OF MAN,

BUT HOLY MEN OF GOD SPOKE AS THEY WERE MOVED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.” 2 Peter 1:20-21

We also might consider that Jesus validated the fact that what is written in the Word of God was done so

by the leading of the Holy Spirit. Consider the words of Jesus in His letter to the Laodiceans as an

example: Each of the seven letters, such as this one to Laodicea, begin with Jesus’
words and end with the exhortation to hear what the Spirit is saying to the
“AND TO THE ANGEL churches. This is an important point, for the Holy Spirit will NEVER say
(MESSENGER) OF THE anything to God’s people that is contrary to what He has recorded in His
Word. The Word of God is the voice of the Holy Spirit. Over my years of
CHURCH OF THE ministry I have heard quite a few of God’s people attributing things to the
LAODICEANS, WRITE, leading of the Holy Spirit that are in opposition to God’s Word. When we
‘THESE THINGS SAYS THE hear statements like, “The Lord is leading me” or “The Spirit is impressing
AMEN, THE FAITHFUL AND me,” we must practice the warning “not to believe every spirit, but test the
spirits, whether they are of God” (1 John 4:1). You can test what you believe
TRUE WITNESS… you are hearing by what has been written!
         HE WHO HAS AN EAR,
          LET HIM HEAR WHAT

              THE SPIRIT SAYS
         TO THE CHURCHES.’ ”

                    Rev. 3:22

“THEREFORE, Likewise, Paul, the author of Hebrews, reveals how imperative it is that
AS THE HOLY SPIRIT SAYS: we hear what the Spirit says to us as brethren. Take the time to ponder
this dissertation from Hebrews Chapter Three in which Paul uses the
‘TODAY, IF YOU WILL examples of the Children of Israel as a warning to us as New Testament

HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS It is by the deceitfulness of sin that they hardened their hearts, went
astray in their hearts, and bore forth evil hearts of unbelief. Paul is clearly
IN THE REBELLION… warning that this same danger exists for us! What is the antidote to this
