t, but certainly not least, 27
let us examine the fourth wall of this spiritual house:
“...AND THEY CONTINUED STEADFASTLY IN... “PETER WAS THEREFORE KEPT IN PRISON,
BUT CONSTANT PRAYER WAS OFFERED TO GOD
                                        Acts 2:42
                                                                         FOR HIM BY THE CHURCH.”
                                                                                         Acts 12:5

“PRAYING ALWAYS WITH ALL PRAYER AND
SUPPLICATION IN THE SPIRIT, BEING WATCHFUL

TO THIS END WITH ALL PERSEVERANCE AND
                                                                SUPPLICATION FOR ALL THE SAINTS...”
                                                                                         Eph. 6:18

                                                             “CONTINUE EARNESTLY IN PRAYER, BEING
                                                                VIGILANT IN IT WITH THANKSGIVING...
                                                                          PRAYING ALSO FOR US...”
                                                                                         Col. 4:2-3

How important is prayer in the building of this spiritual house. We can answer that by these words of Jesus:

“THEN HE TAUGHT, SAYING TO THEM,
                                                                   ‘IS IT NOT WRITTEN,

                                                            ‘MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED

                                                                    FOR ALL NATIONS?”
                                                                            Mark 11:17

Jesus’ house is not called “a house of doctrine.” It is not to be known as “a house of
fellowship.” Neither is it to be called “a house of communion.” Jesus’ house is to be called “a
house of prayer.” Even beyond that it is a house of prayer “for all nations.” As important as
is “the apostles doctrine, fellowship and the breaking of bread (communion)”, the wall of
prayer is given a preeminence as this spiritual house bears the God-appointed title of “My
house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

Paul reminds us as believers:

“HE WHO BUILT THE HOUSE HAS MORE HONOR THAN THE HOUSE. FOR EVERY HOUSE IS BUILT
BY SOMEONE, BUT HE WHO BUILT ALL THINGS IS GOD...

BUT CHRIST AS A SON OVER HIS OWN HOUSE, WHOSE HOUSE WE ARE...”
                                                                                      Heb. 3:3-6

The spiritual house is a high priority in God’s Word. To help you grasp its significance, I want to recommend
this DVD series that I taught some years back on this subject:

              “THE BUILDING OF
            A SPIRITUAL HOUSE”

       14 HOURS OF ILLUSTRATED TEACHINGS
ON 4 DVD DISCS IN ONE ALBUM

This DVD series is committed to examining the construction of those
spiritual walls in the life of the believer, God’s “living stones.” To build a
good solid house you need a blueprint. Acts 2:42 is the blueprint for the
house of God to be constructed out of “living stones.” The four walls of
the early church were “, the Apostle’s doctrine, fellowship, the breaking
of bread (communion) and prayer” (Acts 2:42).
