P. 54

Take careful notice that it is Jesus, John 7:24

the Righteous Judge who judges all men righteously,

    instructs us as His followers,

to also judge with righteous judgment.

I am amazed how the majority of Christians are well-versed with

Jesus’ admonition, “Judge not, that you not be judged” (Matt. 7:1) ,

but seem to be oblivious to the call to “judge with righteous judgment” (Jn. 7:24).

Are these two verses in conflict with one another? They are not, if you consider the context in which
Jesus warns, “Judge not, that you be not judged”. This is an admonition not to judge from a position of

hypocrisy rather than an exhortation not to judge at all:

"JUDGE NOT, THAT YOU BE NOT JUDGED.
                                      FOR WITH WHAT JUDGMENT YOU JUDGE, YOU WILL BE JUDGED;
AND WITH THE MEASURE YOU USE, IT WILL BE MEASURED BACK TO YOU.
AND WHY DO YOU LOOK AT THE SPECK IN YOUR BROTHER'S EYE,
BUT DO NOT CONSIDER THE PLANK IN YOUR OWN EYE? OR HOW CAN
YOU SAY TO YOUR BROTHER, 'LET ME REMOVE THE SPECK FROM

YOUR EYE'; AND LOOK, A PLANK IS IN YOUR OWN EYE?

                                                               HYPOCRITE!

FIRST REMOVE THE PLANK FROM YOUR OWN EYE, AND THEN YOU WILL

SEE CLEARLY TO REMOVE THE SPECK FROM YOUR BROTHER'S EYE.”

                                                                                   Matt 7:1-5

                                                         Let’s get the message:
Judge righteously, and you will be judged by the same measure you use.
Judge from the position of hypocrisy, and you will be judged by God using the same measure.
This exact same principle is in play when it comes to the beatitude of being merciful:

It is the believer who sets his/her
              own standard for

           mercy and judgment!

    “DO NOT BE DECEIVED,
    GOD IS NOT MOCKED;

    FOR WHATEVER ,
    A MAN

    THAT SHALL …”
    HE
    ALSO

                Gal. 6:7-10

The principles that govern judgment are the same that govern mercy. The Righteous Judge wants His
people to “Judge with righteous judgment.” God who is merciful calls His people to “be merciful, just as
your Father also is merciful.” How is God merciful? When man responds properly to truth. When man
repents of disobeying truth, God extends His mercy. Be merciful in like manner! However, keep in mind

that we areto “be merciful as your Father is merciful”:

~YOU CANNOT GIVE MERCY AT THE EXPENSE OF TRUTH~
