A deceitful handling of the Word of God by those in the pulpit will produce a deceitful heart in those in
the pew. Paul gave sufficient warning of this coming phenomena:
“PREACH THE WORD! BE READY IN SEASON AND OUT OF SEASON.

CONVINCE, REBUKE, EXHORT, WITH ALL LONGSUFFERING AND
TEACHING. FOR THE TIME WILL COME WHEN THEY WILL NOT ENDURE

SOUND DOCTRINE, BUT ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN DESIRES,
BECAUSE THEY HAVE ITCHING EARS, THEY WILL HEAP UP FOR
THEMSELVES TEACHERS; AND THEY WILL TURN THEIR EARS AWAY

FROM THE TRUTH, AND BE TURNED ASIDE TO FABLES.”
2 Tim 4:2-5

Study carefully the above contrast. What is in your right hand? Is it the truth or a lie? The pure in heart

will be those who set their heart on the pure Word of God. A deceived heart will put his trust in the

wisdom of this world. Only God’s Word is pure enough to produce a pure heart. Remember the

principle: It takes purity to produce purity. Left to itself the heart can only produce deceit. It must be

placed under the influence of something of absolute purity.

God indeed is serious about the subject of “SINCE YOU HAVE
YOUR SOULS
purity in His people: WOW! IN OBEYING
THE TRUTH…
“TO THE PURE GOD IS
ALL THINGS ARE PURE, SERIOUS LOVE ONE ANOTHER
BUT TO THOSE WHO ARE ABOUT THIS FERVENTLY WITH A
DEFILED AND UNBELIEVING PURITY
STUFF! HAVING BEEN Matt. 5:8
NOTHING IS PURE; BORN AGAIN… THE WORD
BUT EVEN THEIR MIND AND THROUGH
CONSCIENCE ARE DEFILED. OF GOD
THEY PROFESS TO KNOW GOD,
BUT IN WORKS THEY DENY HIM, AS NEWBORN BABES,
BEING ABOMINABLE, DISOBEDIENT, DESIRE THE
MILK OF
AND DISQUALIFIED
FOR EVERY GOOD WORK.” THE THAT YOU MAY
WORD GROW THEREBY…”
