THE SPECIFIED DAY OF THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS Lev. 23:23-24
The keys to properly interpreting prophecy and establishing sound doctrine lies in the prophetic content of
“The Feasts of The Lord” as stated in the chronological order given in Leviticus 23:
DEATH BURIAL RESURRECTION HOLY SPIRIT RAPTURE 2ND COMING REIGN
OF OF OF SENT BY OF OF
CHRIST CHRIST BY CHRIST CHRIST CHRIST CHRIST
CHRIST YET TO BE FULFILLED
FULFILLED
The seven feasts of the Lord found in Leviticus 23 are the divine appointments of Jesus Christ. We can
say that with authority because of the historical fact that He has fulfilled four of the seven on their
appointed days with His death, burial, resurrection, and the giving of the Holy Spirit. Only three remain
unfulfilled. They are reserved for the three great remaining objectives Christ is yet to complete namely,
“the rapture (at Trumpets) the Second Coming, ( at Atonement) and the Millennial Reign of Christ (at
Tabernacles).
Four feasts are history, three remain. Let us look at the last two before we look at Trumpets depicting the
rapture. The Second Coming of Christ has a specific “day” appointed to it. It will be on “the Day of
Atonement”, which is the “10th day of the 7th month” (Tishri) in the Jewish calendar as specified in
Leviticus Chapter 23. This 6th feast day was to be a day of mourning over sin, a day in which God’s
people were to afflict their soul for sin (see Lev. 23:29). In the prophetic passages that describe the
Second Coming of Christ you will find references to this day being a “day of mourning” (see Rev. 1:7, Mat.
24:30 and Zech.12:10-14). Jesus Christ will come on the Day of Atonement when the Jewish tribes of the
earth are afflicting their souls for sin. On this day they will “look on Him whom they have pierced” ( Rev.
1:7 and Zech. 12:10, 13:6). Do you believe in the Second Coming of Christ? It will take place on the Feast
day called “The Day of Atonement.”
Do you believe in the Millennial Reign of Christ on earth for a thousand years? It will take place with an
on-going celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles. In the prophetic depiction of the Second Coming of
Christ, on the Day of Atonement, as stated in Zechariah Chapter 12-14, we find no less than three
references to the requirement of all nations to come up to Jerusalem to observe the Feast of Tabernacles
(see Zech. 14:16, 18, 19).
Three Feasts remain unfulfilled, “Trumpets, Atonement and Tabernacles.” If the Day of Atonement is the
Second Coming of Christ, and the Feast of Tabernacles is the Millennial Reign of Christ, what is the
prophetic significance of the Feast of Trumpets? It is the only other prophetic event Christ must fulfill - the
rapture. Is the rapture tied to “trumpets” in any way? Yes, in EVERY way, as we consider the “mouth of
two or three witnesses” (2 Cor. 13:1):
“…FOR THE LORD HIMSELF WILL DESCEND FROM HEAVEN…WITH THE TRUMPET OF GOD…
THE DEAD IN CHRIST WILL RISE FIRST. THEN WE WHO ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN SHALL BE CAUGHT
UP TOGETHER WITH THEM IN THE CLOUDS TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR…” 1Thess. 4:16
“…AFTER THESE THINGS I LOOKED, AND BEHOLD A DOOR STANDING OPEN IN HEAVEN, AND THE
FIRST VOICE WHICH I HEARD WAS LIKE A TRUMPET SPEAKING WITH ME, SAYING, ‘COME UP HERE,
AND I WILL SHOW YOU THINGS WHICH MUST TAKE PLACE AFTER THIS. IMMEDIATELY I WAS IN THE
SPIRIT; AND BEHOLD, A THRONE SET IN HEAVEN…” Rev. 4:1-2
“…BEHOLD I TELL YOU A MYSTERY: WE SHALL NOT ALL SLEEP, BUT WE SHALL ALL BE CHANGED –
IN A MOMENT, IN THE TWINKLING OF AN EYE, AT THE LAST TRUMPET. FOR THE TRUMPET WILL
SOUND, AND THE DEAD WILL BE RAISED INCORRUPTIBLE, AND WE SHALL BE CHANGED.” 1 Cor. 15:51-52
