Absurd,
is it not?

Can either John McCain or Barack Obama’s presence in the White House impact ANY of the specified criteria
for running our race? If John McCain had won the White House as so desired by the Religious Right segment
of the Republican Party, how would his presence in the White House have helped any of us to obtain any of
the necessary conditions for running the true race set before us in God’s Word? The answer is obvious; he
could not. We are at the end of eight years of a Christian President in the White House. He did not help the
believer run his spiritual race either. Why is that so? Because these are men with specified values that are
established by the confines of the U.S. Constitution, not the Bible. God endorses the separation of church and
state. The stated principles of the Kingdom of God are not “Inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of
happiness. Rather, they are “Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Rom. 14:17). Those verses go on
to stress that, “For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God...” (Rom. 14:18).

The problem lies in the fact that the spiritual race for the spiritual prize has been replaced in the hearts of
God’s people with an earthly, political race for a political prize. The problem is that God’s people are just as
obsessed with the inalienable rights to pursue life liberty and happiness as are the unbelievers in this country.
The fault lies in the likes of the Rush Limbaughs and James Dobsons who incite God’s people to focus upon
this earthly kingdom as constituting the race and the prize. The fault lies in pulpits that fail to set before God’s
people the true Kingdom of God in its present manifestation of abiding in the heart of every born-again believer.

Christendom has been fed a steady diet of the importance of family values dominating and emanating from the
White House. We have been taught that the ultimate goal is for a Christian President to choose judges for the
Supreme Court who will overthrow Wade vs. Roe. We have been pressed to prevent gay marriages from
becoming law. What we really want is the same thing the Puritans wanted, a physical manifestation of the
Kingdom of God (God’s New Israel) on earth prior to the return of Jesus Christ to the earth. It can’t and won’t
happen, for it is not God’s will to physically manifest an earthly Kingdom such as the Puritans espoused. Such
goals are not in harmony with God’s Word, and God will never violate what He has written in His Word.

The purpose of this newsletter has been simply to cause all of us to look at the level of our fervency and

commitment to the true race and prize that has been set before us. If we are neglecting it in favor of the political

race and prize, then we need to realize that we have embraced a subtle substitute, the perishable for the
