P. 61
“AWAKE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND DO NOT SIN;
FOR SOME DO NOT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD. I SPEAK THIS TO YOUR SHAME.”
1 Cor. 15:34
In making such a statement, Paul is not preaching sinless perfection.
In another place he said:
“I DO NOT SET ASIDE THE GRACE OF GOD, FOR IF RIGHTEOUSNESS
COMES THROUGH THE LAW, THEN CHRIST DIED IN VAIN.”
Gal. 2:21
However, in holding a balanced perspective between law and grace, we must also take note that Paul
explicitly states that God’s grace is not to become a spiritual license to continue to practice sin as a
believer:
“WHAT SHALL I SAY THEN? SHALL WE CONTINUE IN SIN THAT GRACE MAY ABOUND? CERTAINLY NOT!
HOW SHALL WE WHO DIED TO SIN LIVE ANY LONGER IN IT… FOR SIN SHALL NOT HAVE DOMINION
OVER YOU, FOR YOU ARE NOT UNDER LAW BUT UNDER GRACE.”
Rom. 6:1-2, 6:14
As a minister for nearly 30 years, I have observed two classes of extreme teachers who tend to
abuse the boundaries God has placed around certain popular doctrines in His Word.
Those two classes of teachers are:
1. FFAAIITTHH AND 2. GGRRAACCEE

of the believer.
I personally have heard certain grace teachers on the radio presenting concepts about grace and its
relationship to sin that are diametrically opposed to Paul’s concepts as stated above. Through the
unbiblical concept of “pre-forgiveness of sin” (“every sin I ever will commit is already forgiven under the
Blood of Jesus”), the message of grace is subtly being presented as a theological license to continue in
sin. If my sins are pre-forgiven, then it doesn’t really matter if I do continue to sin. This is a grave error!
In light of today’s often abuse in the teaching of God’s grace, I want to take this opportunity to highly
recommend to you two different teachings I have done on this subject. One is in book form and the
other in an extensive DVD series. God’s people must hold a proper balance between what the
Scripture presents as saving grace and enabling grace. Sadly, only half the truth is being emphasized
about God’s grace.
