Psalm 19:8
Earlier I gave to you this prophetic
visionary verse from Isaiah in which
a full revelation of Jesus Christ is
given. Working from the bottom up,
we find that after the Lord “saves
us,” He becomes “our King” and
consequentially,“Our Lawgiver.”
Jesus, as King over the Kingdom of
God that abides in the heart of the
believer, has laws (commandments)
designed to govern the conduct of
His subjects.
God’s commandments, whether they be the ten than governed the Old Covenant (Deut. 4:13), or the 1,500
found in the New Testament, were never meant by God to be considered by His people as “optional”
or “suggestions.” Commandments are absolutes. Let us consider how important obedience to His
commandments are in this life:
“WHOEVER THEREFORE, BREAKS ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE COMMANDMENTS, AND TEACHES
MEN SO, SHALL BE CALLED LEAST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN; BUT WHOEVER DOES AND
TEACHES THEM, HE SHALL BE CALLED GREAT IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.” Mat. 5:19

Obviously, the keeping or breaking of God’s commandments by His own people has ramifications in this
life as well as in the one to come. ““TTEEAACCHHEERR,

We cannot love God only.
Jesus issued this new commandment: Luke 9:23
“A NEW COMMANDMENT I GIVE TO YOU, THAT YOU LOVE ONE ANOTHER,
AS I HAVE LOVED YOU, THAT YOU ALSO LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
BY THIS ALL WILL KNOW THAT YOU ARE MY DISCIPLES, IF YOU HAVE LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER.” Jn. 13:34-35
