THE COMING PROPHETIC
FROM THE ROLE OF THE TO THE ROLE OF
OF THE GENTILES HAS COME IN.
FULLNESS often heard in The word
“…UNTIL THE “paradigm” is a buzz word
business meetings and teaching seminars.
Simplistically, it speaks of a role model or an example. A “paradigm shift” then is a transition from one
form, model, or example to a different one. I chose this word as best illustrating the fact that there is
coming a shift from the role model God chose for the present, prevalent Gentile church back to the
original model given to the Jewish people of Israel. Historically there has already been a paradigm shift
from God’s Old Covenant relationship with the Jewish people of Israel to the present New Covenant with
the Gentile church. It is vital for the church to see that there is prophetically another paradigm shift coming
as God changes from the role of the Gentile church back to Israel becoming the light to all nations (Deut.
4:6-8). As an example of a biblical paradigm shift, we might consider the passage concerning John the
Baptist and his transitional relationship to the soon-coming Christ. John said, “He (Jesus) must increase,
but I must decrease” (Jn.3:30). John the Baptist was the forerunner sent by God to herald in the first
coming of Christ. However, as his ministry was coming to a conclusion and the ministry of Jesus Christ
was about to begin, he announced that he must decrease in order for Christ to increase. That is a
“paradigm shift.”
Here is the point I want you to grasp: As we, the Gentile Church, prophetically sit on the verge of the
second coming of Christ, it becomes vitally important to understand that the church’s present role must
become identical to the one of John the Baptist. The role of the church must decrease in order that the
role of Israel (the Jewish people) may begin to increase. I stress this point due to the present high-minded
attitude that we find in the church today that seeks to usurp the prophetic yet-to-be-fulfilled role of Israel in
the last days. The church is not God’s “New Israel.” The church will not be God’s final agent of salvation
on the earth prior to the second coming of Christ, nor will the church fulfill the prophecy of Joel concerning
the outpouring of the “latter day rain.” This is Israel’s future destiny. Failure to rightly divide the
(prophetic) word of truth is producing a high-minded church identical to the one Paul saw developing
among the Roman saints of his day. Consider Paul’s warning to them and subsequently, to us:
“DO NOT BOAST AGAINST THE BRANCHES…DO NOT BE HAUGHTY…FOR I DO NOT DESIRE, BRETHREN,
THAT YOU SHOULD BE IGNORANT OF THIS MYSTERY, LEST YOU SHOULD BECOME WISE IN YOUR OWN OPINION,
THAT HARDENING IN PART HAS HAPPENED TO ISRAEL UNTIL THE FULLNESS OF THE GENTILES HAS COME IN.
AND SO ALL ISRAEL WILL BE SAVED, AS IT IS WRITTEN: ‘THE DELIVERER WILL COME OUT OF ZION, AND HE WILL
TURN AWAY UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB, FOR THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM,
WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS.’ CONCERNING THE GOSPEL THEY ARE ENEMIES FOR YOUR SAKE,
BUT CONCERNING THE ELECTION THEY ARE BELOVED FOR THE SAKE OF THE FATHERS…” Romans 11:16-28 excerpts
