Here is the point I want to make from the illustrations above and on the previous page: Some parts of God’s
prophetic word belong under the banner of His absolute sovereignty to intervene in the affairs of men as He
sees fit. Other parts of the prophetic word belong under the banner of God’s divine ability of possessing
foreknowledge of future events. It is important to understand that God does not cause all prophetic things to
happen. Such is the illustration above pertaining to the destruction of two-thirds of the Jews. It is not His
sovereign will that they be destroyed, but by His foreknowledge He knows that they will perish as unrepentant
Zionists that remain alienated from their own Messiah. Conversely, the rise of Antichrist is the sovereign
release of a delusional lie sent from God’s hand on a segment of the unsaved (the wicked who “had pleasure in
unrighteousness”) who will be condemned. God help us to carefully analyze prophecy and properly place it
under God’s character as revealed in God’s Word. The Calvinist view that God causes all things to happen is
extreme, and so likewise is the Deist view that God does not intervene in the affairs of men at all. Keep the
theological pendulum in balance!

It is important for God’s people to study prophecy. This point cannot be over-emphasized. Consider once more
the importance God Himself places on prophecy:

“WE HAVE THE PROPHETIC WORD MADE MORE SURE,
WHICH YOU DO WELL TO HEED AS A LIGHT THAT SHINES IN A DARK PLACE...

NO PROPHECY OF SCRIPTURE IS OF ANY PRIVATE INTERPRETATION.

BUT HOLY MEN OF GOD SPOKE AS THEY WERE MOVED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.”
