When we add the next verse of Paul’s stated fear of corruption by Satan of the betrothed Bride (the
Church), we are given the threefold method by which that deceptive corruption can occur:

“FOR I AM JEALOUS FOR YOU WITH GODLY JEALOUSY. FOR I HAVE BETROTHED
YOU TO ONE HUSBAND, THAT I MAY PRESENT YOU AS A CHASTE VIRGIN TO
CHRIST. BUT I FEAR, LEST SOMEHOW, AS THE SERPENT DECEIVED EVE BY HIS
CRAFTINESS, SO YOUR MINDS MAY BE CORRUPTED FROM THE SIMPLICITY

(“SEDUCED FROM WHOLEHEARTED AND SINCERE AND PURE DEVOTION”) TO CHRIST.
FOR IF HE WHO COMES PREACHES ANOTHER JESUS WHOM WE HAVE NOT

PREACHED, OR IF YOU RECEIVE A DIFFERENT SPIRIT WHICH YOU HAVE NOT
RECEIVED, OR A DIFFERENT GOSPEL WHICH YOU HAVE NOT ACCEPTED,
(I FEAR) YOU MAY WELL PUT UP WITH IT.”
2 Cor. 11:1-4

Notice this threefold plan of deception that Satan
designed against the betrothed Bride of Christ to
corrupt her from qualifying as a chaste virgin to
Christ comes through the act of preaching.
They that come will preach Jesus,
but it will be “another Jesus”
than the one Paul preached.
They will come preaching a message about
the gospel, but it will be “a different gospel” than
the one Paul presented.
They will come preaching the Spirit, but it will be
“a different spirit” than the one Paul presented to
the Church in his day.

How effective will this plan of Satan be against Jesus’ betrothed Bride? Let Jesus tell us Himself:
…THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN SHALL BE LIKENED TO TEN VIRGINS…

WERE
OF THEM WERE
FOOLISH…
WISE,

THEY THAT WERE READY

WENT IN WITH HIM TO THE WEDDING…”
Matt. 25:1-13

When Jesus returns as the Bridegroom (Matt. 25:10), He will find only HALF of His betrothed Bride in a
state of readiness. The other half will be left behind at His coming. Why so? They had become foolish
virgins. How so? Because they were corrupted by Satan with the preaching of “another Jesus… a
different gospel… a different Spirit.” I am not talking about the perverted message of the Mormons or
the Jehovah Witnesses! I am talking about true, born-again, blood-washed believers whose lifestyles
are found unacceptable by Christ at His coming. They will not be raptured, but rather left behind!

It has been well said, “You are what you eat.” It is also true to say, “You are what you believe.”
Our doctrines dictate our deeds. Satan’s plan is to corrupt the virgins by means of preaching doctrines
that cause God’s people to be comfortable with lifestyles of sin. The “once saved, always saved”
gospel, the “unconditional eternal security of the believer”, and the automatic, pre-forgiveness of future
sins by Christ on the cross, will produce a deceived people that are comfortable living in sin.
