The alternative to being meek is to be full of oneself:

                                                                                                   2 Tim . 3:12-13

"YOU KNOW THAT THOSE WHO ARE CONSIDERED RULERS OVER THE GENTILES
LORD IT OVER THEM, AND THEIR GREAT ONES EXERCISE AUTHORITY OVER THEM.
YET IT SHALL NOT BE SO AMONG YOU; BUT WHOEVER DESIRES TO BECOME GREAT AMONG YOU
SHALL BE YOUR SERVANT. AND WHOEVER OF YOU DESIRES TO BE FIRST SHALL BE SLAVE OF ALL.

FOR EVEN THE SON OF MAN DID NOT COME TO BE SERVED, BUT TO SERVE …”
                                                                               Mark 10:42-45

“THE ELDERS WHO ARE AMONG YOU I EXHORT, I WHO AM A FELLOW ELDER AND A WITNESS OF
THE SUFFERINGS OF CHRIST, AND ALSO A PARTAKER OF THE GLORY THAT WILL BE REVEALED:
SHEPHERD THE FLOCK OF GOD WHICH IS AMONG YOU, SERVING AS OVERSEERS, NOT BY
COMPULSION BUT WILLINGLY, NOT FOR DISHONEST GAIN BUT EAGERLY; NOR AS BEING LORDS
OVER THOSE ENTRUSTED TO YOU, BUT BEING EXAMPLES TO THE FLOCK; AND WHEN THE CHIEF
SHEPHERD APPEARS, YOU WILL RECEIVE THE CROWN OF GLORY THAT DOES NOT FADE AWAY.”
                                                                         1 Peter 5:1-4

“LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU WHICH WAS ALSO IN CHRIST JESUS, WHO, BEING IN THE FORM OF GOD,
DID NOT CONSIDER IT ROBBERY TO BE EQUAL WITH GOD, BUT MADE HIMSELF OF NO REPUTATION,
TAKING THE FORM OF A BONDSERVANT, AND COMING IN THE LIKENESS OF MEN. AND BEING FOUND
IN APPEARANCE AS A MAN, HE HUMBLED HIMSELF AND BECAME OBEDIENT TO THE POINT OF DEATH,

EVEN THE DEATH OF THE CROSS. THEREFORE GOD ALSO HAS HIGHLY EXALTED HIM…”
                                                                               Phil 2:5-9

“…EVERYONE WHO IS AMONG YOU, NOT TO THINK OF HIMSELF MORE HIGHLY THAN HE OUGHT TO THINK…
BE OF THE SAME MIND TOWARD ONE ANOTHER. DO NOT SET YOUR MIND ON HIGH THINGS,
BUT ASSOCIATE WITH THE HUMBLE. DO NOT BE WISE IN YOUR OWN OPINION.”
                                                                                Rom.12:3,16

                                                         “FULL OF SELF”

I have a very large volume of Webster’s dictionary on my desk. It has 2,661 pages. I amusingly tell
people, “pick it up-it weighs a ton.” When you look up the word “self”, there are over a hundred
variations listed. Among them are:

SELF-CONCERNED SELF-DEVOTED These are among
SELF-CONFIDENT SELF-DIRECTED the things
SELF-EXALTING SELF-RIGHTEOUS THE WORLD
SELF-PROMOTING SELF-SUFFICIENT loves…
SELF-DETERMINED SELF-PROFICIENT
SELF-WILLED SELF-GRATIFICATION These are among
SELF-ABSORBED SELF-GRATULATION the things
SELF-ASSERTIVE SELF-LOVING THE WORD
SELF-APPOINTED SELF-MADE condemns…
 SELF-ASSURED SELF-REGARDING
