Please don’t surmise that I am being very pessimistic about mankind, but rather that I am just paying
strict attention to things God’s Word says are prophetic statements of destiny. There is a big difference
between the expressed WILL of God, and what God prophetically says WILL take place.

If you sit under strict Calvinistic teaching, you would have a problem with the above contrast, for the
hard-core Calvinist believes whatever happens on earth to mankind (good or evil) is the result of the
irresistible sovereign will of God rather than the free-will choice of man. However, this is not supported
when a comparison is made between what is stated in the promises of God’s Word which are
expressions of His will in a given area, and what prophecy projects as the outcome that is going to
actually take place.

For instance, God states as a clear expression of His will:
“…GOD OUR SAVIOR, WHO DESIRES ALL MEN TO BE SAVED
AND TO COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH.” 1 Tim. 2:3-4
“THE LORD…IS NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH…
BUT THAT ALL SHOULD COME TO REPENTANCE.” 2 Pet. 3:9
“THEREFORE I WILL JUDGE YOU…EVERYONE ACCORDING TO HIS WAYS…REPENT, AND TURN
FROM ALL THE TRANSGRESSIONS, SO THAT INIQUITY WILL NOT BE YOUR RUIN. CAST AWAY FROM
YOU ALL TRANSGRESSIONS WHICH YOU HAVE COMMITTED, AND GET YOURSELVES A NEW HEART
AND A NEW SPIRIT, FOR WHY SHOULD YOU DIE…? FOR I HAVE NO PLEASURE IN THE DEATH OF
ONE WHO DIES,’ SAYS THE LORD GOD. ‘THEREFORE TURN AND LIVE!’ ” Ezk. 18:30-32
In spite of God’s expressed WILL, (His desire) for mankind, His prophetic Word tells us what actually
WILL happen in the last days of mankind on the earth:
“BY THESE THREE PLAGUES A THIRD OF MANKIND WAS KILLED…BUT THE REST OF MANKIND,
WHO WERE NOT KILLED BY THESE PLAGUES, DID NOT REPENT OF THE WORKS OF THEIR HANDS, THAT
THEY SHOULD NOT WORSHIP DEMONS, AND IDOLS OF GOLD, SILVER, BRASS, STONE, AND WOOD,
WHICH CAN NEITHER SEE NOR HEAR NOR WALK; AND THEY DID NOT REPENT OF THEIR MURDERS OR
THEIR SORCERIES OR THEIR SEXUAL IMMORALITY OR THEIR THEFTS.” Rev. 9:18-21
For the most part, mankind’s love for the works of darkness will be the cause of their eternal demise.
It is important to see that God places that choice sovereignly upon their shoulders, not His!
The perverse Calvinistic doctrine of the “absolute sovereignty of God” is not in harmony with what is
portrayed in God’s Word. It is the sovereign WILL of man that is being expressed above-they will not
choose to repent!
The apostle Jude, as well as Paul, give us what is to be the believer’s delicate position toward
interacting with those in darkness:
“KEEP YOURSELVES IN THE LOVE OF GOD,
LOOKING FOR THE MERCY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST UNTO ETERNAL LIFE.
AND ON SOME HAVE COMPASSION, MAKING A DISTINCTION; BUT OTHERS SAVE WITH FEAR,
PULLING THEM OUT OF THE FIRE, HATING EVEN THE GARMENT DEFILED BY THE FLESH.” Jude 21-23
“WALK IN WISDOM TOWARD THOSE WHO ARE OUTSIDE, REDEEMING THE TIME.
LET YOUR SPEECH ALWAYS BE WITH GRACE, SEASONED WITH SALT,
THAT YOU MAY KNOW HOW YOU OUGHT TO ANSWER EACH ONE.” Col. 4:5-6
