  There are reasons why God calls us to survival praying as stated by the four “us” statements of,
“Deliver us…Lead us… Forgive us… Give us.” There is a direct correlation that can be made to the

                                 four titles Satan bears pertaining to the believer:

Let us consider the first two together as they are the primary ways that Satan attacks the brethren:

      YOUR FAITH,                                                                                            BE VIGILANT;

   BY SOME MEANS                                                                                         YOUR ADVERSARY
     THE TEMPTER
                                                                                                              THE DEVIL…
HAS TEMPTED YOU,                                                                                             SEEKS WHOM
  AND OUR LABOR                                                                                          HE MAY DEVOUR.
                                                                                                   RESIST HIM, STEADFAST IN
MIGHT BE IN VAIN.”                                                                                           THE FAITH…”

Note very well that what Satan is seeking to destroy in both of these roles of his is the faith of the believer.

We all know the emphasis that the Scriptures place upon God’s people living a life of faith:

As the Tempter, Satan lurks behind the believer seeking to draw him/her back into a
                 life of sin. He knows what worked on us in our “BC” days,
                            so he knows what bait to put on his hook.

                               front of God’s people to hinder any attempt that would

                                  draw them close to God. Paul said of his tactics:

                                         “…WE WANTED TO COME TO YOU-EVEN I, PAUL,
                                           TIME AND AGAIN-BUT SATAN HINDERED US.”
                                                                       1 Thess. 2:18

                                         “…I MADE IT MY AIM TO PREACH THE GOSPEL…
                                    FOR THIS REASON I ALSO HAVE BEEN MUCH HINDERED

                                                           FROM COMING TO YOU.”
